CHENG Shengkui is a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is the President of the China Society of Natural Resources, an executive member of the China Association of Agricultural Science Societies, a member of the China Society on the Tibet Plateau, a member of the Ecological Society of China, the Vice President of the Chinese Society of Tillage and Farming Systems, and a member of the Chinese Society for Sustainable Development. He also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Natural Resources.
Dr. CHENG has been deeply engaged in research on macro-agriculture and regional development for many years. He has led numerous projects, including the National Climbing Program, projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, major initiatives of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and international collaborative projects. He has published more than 70 papers in national and international academic journals, served as the lead author or co-author of six books, and received a provincial-level Scientific and Technological Achievement Award. In 1998, he was honored with the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Youth Science and Technology Award.
