    THE CONDITIONS OF THE GLACIAL WATER RESOURCE AND THE WAYS OF ITS EXPLOITATION AND UTILIZATION IN CHINA

    China is one of the countries where there is aboundant glacial water resource and glaciers exist in a vast area of mountainous regions. In this paper, a comprehensive discussion is made for the characteristics of glacial water resource,the chemical properties of meltwater and the prospects of the future utilization of this resource in China. It has been found that the glacial water resource is a water resource system based on the effect of a solid water reservoir. Its mineralization is low and it almost does not have any pollution. Particular by the glacial water is a high-quality fresh water resource in the inland arid region. It is necessary to reconfirm the value of this water resource and conduct further studies on the fundamentals of its application in order to rationally exploit,utilize and preserve the glacial water resource.

    According to the calculation of the water resources of the Shiyanhe,Heihe. Shuleke River basins in the Hexi Corridor and their original runoff volumes, it shows that the actual annual water resources in the oasis of every county and town of the Hexi Corildor are 285-770mm,which is 1. 3-18. 5 times the local annual precipitation. From the point of view of ecological balance, the ecological water need in oasis in every county and town is 400-500mm and that in the farmland is 450-650mm. On the basis of the above mentioned calculation,to basically keep the natural ecological balance of every county and town, the proper oasis area should be 2. 92- 17. 26 ×104 ha,and that in the whole Hexi Corridor may be expanded to 117. 24 × 104 ha ,which is 6. 61 × 104 ha larger than now; the proper farmland area should be 1. 43- 8. 28 ×104 ha and that in the whole Hexi Corridor may be expanded to 57.98 × 104 ha,which is 9. 32 ×104 ha larger than now.

    EVALUATION OF THE GROUND WATER RESOURCE IN THE LEAKY AQUIFER OF XINYI CITY,JIANGSU

    The ground water resource in the leaky aquifer is evaluated by the Galerkin's finite element method on condition that the water table of the above recharge aquifer changes with pumping. The predication of the ground water head and influence on the old well field after the new wells come into operation is done by the method too. The guarantee of pumping rate is estimated by the method of water balance in phreatic aquifer. The results show that the quantity of leakage is 85% of pumping rate in the leaky aquifer. It is the reason why this area is rich in ground water resource. It is possible to establish a new well field the yield of which is 50-51 ×103m3/d.

    Taking the main control sections of the Jing ,Luo and Wei Rivers within Shanxi as examples,this paper has analysed the characteristics of the probability distribution of the low flows in 14 periods; selected the types of the theoretic distribution lines; revealed the change laws of the average values of the period mean flow of various low flow series; the change laws of the variation coefficient ,and the change laws of the deviation coefficient; established the empirical formulae for deriving the low flows with different frequencies and in different periods;and drawn the corresponding relation curves. All the results are very convenient for application.

    By using the relations between mean annual precipitation,mean annual temperature and mean annual runoff established with the climatological and hydrological data of the contemporary time, the values of ancient annual runoff of Holocene in eastern part of the North China Plain are calculated.These approximate values of the palaeorunoff obtained from the calculation are compared with the palaeohydrological information available in the same region. The result indicates that the conclusions are quite similar to those acquired from other methods.

    The relationship between climatic change and sustained agriculture is discussed from the standpoint of the connotation of sustained agriculture. The impact of climatic change on sustained agriculture in China is analysed according to the crop productivity and yield,cropping system,regional agricultural production and production cost. It is pointed out that climatic change induced by green house effects may cause the intensification of the agricultural instability,the shortage of natural resources and the increase of agricultural cost. Therefore this will have certain unfavorable impact on sustained agriculture and can not be treated in a blind optimatic altitude.

    The study of CO2 multiplication which leads to the warming of global climate and influences the natural environment has become a main subject of the world's attention. IPCC has made a forecast. On the basis of it this paper analyses the impact of climatic change on the differentiation of the physical zones in China. Using the data of 671 meteorological stations the author has analysed the numerical indexes of temperature zones and natural regions of China, the potential agricultural productivity of various regions and the facors which influence the potential agricultural productivity and drawn up the maps which show the northward move of the temperature zones, the westward move of the precipitation regions and the change of the boundary between the dry and wet regions after the warming of the climate.All of these works are completed by using the mathematical modeling and computers. The results indicate that in China the warming of the globla climate will increase the area of warm region,improve the water conditions in the arid and semi-arid regions and increase the productivity of the land.

    The studies of the evaluation of the types of urban land quality classification are so far very few. In this paper,the authors systematically explore the theory,the selection of types,the factors and the establishment of factor system,the basic evaluation method and the model el of the evaluation of the urban land resource. The model of land evaluation has been applied to the evaluation of the urban land of Jiaojiang City ,Zhejiang Province. The results turn out to be successful for the optimum allocation of land resource.

    Through the practice of the overall land use planning in Dalian and Liaoyang Cities and their two surrounding areas,we consider that ,in the overall land use planning at the city and county (district)levels, to apply the evaluation method of the ″double-orbit system″including both the evaluation of the current land use types and the evaluation of the suitability of the unused land to the evaluation of land resource is superior to using the method of land suitability evaluation in all cases. In this paper, Liaoyany City is exampled and brief introductions about the evaluation method of the ″double-orbit system″ and the effects of its application to the overall land use planning are given.

    On the basis of observation and test, this paper makes a systematic analysis for the water and heat resources of the reserve and their reuse by climatic theory. According to the gained actual data about the reuse of the water and heat resources, they are applied to vegetables production. In the end,the author finds out the suitable planting dates and partial favorable heat indexes for local vegetables production. These findings will supply a theoretic foundation for the design of the reserve.

    This paper analyses and evaluates the rich natural cold resource in North China and proposes the ways of preserving the natural cold resource in winter for the preservation of fresh agricultural products. The principle,characteristics and the status quo of using the natural cold resource for ice-making to preserve the fresh agricultural products are demonstrated.Possessing the benefits of energy-saving, less investment and high quality, the proposed method is a new way for the preservation of the fresh agricultural products,and has broad prospects of application in North China.
